TENCEL™ Modal Fabric Guide
Why TENCEL™ Modal?
Derived from renewable beechwood trees, TENCEL™ Modal is one of the softest and most sustainable fibers in the world. The trees are sourced from FSC® and PEFC™ certified forests that regenerate naturally - no irrigation, pesticides, or genetically modified seeds required.
Low water impact: Produced using a highly efficient process that uses significantly less water than conventional cotton.
Renewable source: Beechwood trees regrow on their own, making them a continually renewable raw material.
Carbon conscious: The production process is powered by renewable energy and designed for resource recovery and reuse.
Sustainably certified: TENCEL™ Modal fibers are EU Ecolabel certified for low environmental impact and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified, ensuring no harmful substances remain in the finished fabric.
How It’s Made
TENCEL™ Modal is created by Lenzing AG in Austria using a closed-loop production system, where more than 99% of water and solvents are recovered and reused.
The solvent used — NMMO (N-Methylmorpholine N-oxide) — is non-toxic, biodegradable, and approved by the EU Ecolabel, ensuring safety for both the planet and your skin.
This process minimizes waste, conserves resources, and maintains a clean, eco-responsible production cycle from start to finish.
