A love note from our founder...
I started Flower Girl because I was tired of wearing pads and tampons, and I couldn’t find period underwear that I liked or felt comfortable in. I thought: we’re in flow for a whole week, every month, for years of our lives—we deserve better.
When I began this project, I was completely naive about product development, manufacturing, and textiles. But the more I learned, the more concerned I became about the products we’ve been using our entire lives. Not long after I started this journey, news broke about how toxic many disposable menstrual products are. And from what I’ve learned about manufacturing and textiles, I can tell you—it’s just as alarming.
I’ve sourced all-natural materials that I’m truly proud of—safe to wear against the most sensitive parts of your body. I’ve partnered with a domestic manufacturer who upholds ethical and responsible production practices, ensuring every piece is made with care and integrity while providing fair wages and proper working conditions for every worker. (RN#171221 – For transparency, I had to register for this to show my manufacturer complies with production standards. Every product label should have one!)
This is my first foray into product development, and it’s become a journey I love and feel deeply fulfilled by. I’m committed to improving with every iteration of our product, which is sewn by hand, with love, in Los Angeles. I'm so excited to continue growing Flower Girl.
With so much love,
Ari
